    Position Description:

    Under general supervision, cares for and maintains turf areas; plants trees, shrubs and flower bed areas and applies chemicals to same as directed; operates and maintains equipment and performs other labor as necessary to maintain landscape and grounds; operates equipment to remove and haul snow from streets, parking lots, sidewalks, steps and entrances; provides functional supervision to student employees as necessary; and performs other related duties.

    This is a first shift position with a work schedule of Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    Pay Grade: I: 06; II: 08

    Starting Hourly Wage: I: $15.86; II: $17.30

    Required Qualifications:

    Groundskeeper I: One year of experience in operating the machinery and tools used in groundskeeping work or any combination of related experience and education from which comparable knowledge and ability can be acquired which totals one year; and possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

    Groundskeeper II: Two years of experience operating the machinery and tools used in grounds work, or any combination of related experience and education from which comparable knowledge and ability can be acquired which totals two years; must have successfully completed commercial certification tests (3OT-Ornamental and Turf) for application of pesticides and eligible to be certified; may be required to successfully complete other commercial certification tests as required; and possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

    The Burlington Baseball Association has existed in some form since 1889. The Burlington Bees are proud members of the Prospect League, a summer collegiate wooden bat league featuring college players from around the country. The 18 team league plays from June to the first week of August.

    We are offering motivated, talented, energetic individuals an opportunity to apply for our Head Groundskeeper/Stadium Operations Supervisor position.

    Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

    • Prepare and maintain playing surface and bullpens at the highest professional level on a year around basis. The playing surface, both grass and base paths, should be safe for players. At the same time it should be aesthetically pleasing to our fans.
    • Preparation of the field must be done effectively to facilitate the daily practice, pre-game and in-game schedule.
    • Stock and maintain required materials, such as mound clay, infield conditioner, drying compounds, line paint, etc.
    • Set up and breakdown of all equipment, including batting cage, screens, turf mats, etc. for batting practice and general practice.
    • Direct tarp usage, as well as post-game field and turf maintenance. In cooperation with game umpires and the team General Manager, monitor weather conditions in order to protect the playing surface.
    • Maintain non-playing grass and landscaped areas of the ballpark.
    • Maintain upkeep of maintenance building and storage area.
    • Operate and maintain all grounds equipment in order to extend its useful life while minimizing repair and replacement costs.
    • Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the ballpark. 
    • Ensure the proper operation of stadium facilities, and in conjunction with the General Manager, ensure needed repairs are made in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Assist in stocking supplies in concessions and restrooms.
    • Supervise part-time staff and interns who are performing both grounds keeping and operations duties.
    • Assist with preparation and running of non-baseball events.

    The City of Grimes Parks and Recreation Department seeks three Sports Facilities Maintenance Workers, in newly created positions, to help provide clean, safe, and attractive sports facilities at the City of Grimes GrimesPlex and the North and South sports complexes. 

    Candidates should have general experience in the operation and maintenance of light and medium construction and maintenance equipment, particularly in the maintenance of parks and sports facilities.     We currently have an opening for an Irrigation Sales Technician.  In this position, you will work directly with golf course customers in Minnesota or Iowa to find appropriate solutions to irrigation problems, recommending irrigation upgrade products and or services which may include delivering and installing the necessary equipment on-site. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     Develop additional revenue over the life of a golf course irrigation system through regular system maintenance practices, diagnose and repair systems, and provide upgrade recommendations.

     Install new or demo product.

     Instruct end users as to use, safety, features, and benefits of the overall operation of equipment.

     Be onsite with golf course irrigation customers daily through the irrigation season to help

    customers find solutions to irrigation issues and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.

     Schedule customer appointments to troubleshoot new or existing irrigation equipment.

     Utilize Salesforce to maintain and update customer information based on activities and interactions as they occur.

     Keep current on the latest golf irrigation products and technology including, Minnesota Power Limited Technician (PLT) certification, and Watertonics PSN pump station certification.

     Assist with customer training at customer’s location or in a classroom setting.

     Assist with winterization service to golf courses and municipalities.

     Maintain vehicle: routine maintenance, safety, and cleanliness.

     Occasional overnight travel.

     Work is exclusively away from the office.

    Education and/or Experience

     High School diploma or equivalent.

     2 years of related industry experience and/or sales experience preferred.

     A self-starter, driven, with strong interpersonal skills. 

     Ability to manage workload and excel at prioritizing and organizing tasks.

     Valid/clean driver’s license

     Ability to navigate around local and surrounding states.

     Individual must possess strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
